Changing Your Timezone

Set the timezone used across the app.

Your timezone controls the times you see throughout Startup Science. It is a personal setting — changing it affects your own account, not anyone else's.

Changing it

  1. Open Settings from your user menu.
  2. Select System in the list on the left.
  3. Select the Timezone field to open the list.
  4. Find your timezone. The list is long, so type into the Search box at the top — searching for a city name such as Madrid or Kolkata is quicker than scrolling.
  5. Select it.

There is no separate Save button on this tab.

Matching your computer

Beneath the field is a shortcut reading “Use my browser’s timezone” followed by the zone your browser reports, for example America/Mexico_City. Selecting it sets your timezone to match the device you are on, which is the fastest option if you have moved.

Checking you got it right

The field shows the offset and zone name together, such as (GMT+05:30) Asia/Kolkata, and Current time underneath shows the clock in the timezone currently selected. If that time does not match your watch, the setting is wrong.

What it affects

  • Times shown across the app.
  • Times in your notification emails.
  • The default timezone for new events you create.

Please note: Event times are stored against a timezone, not moved by it. Changing your timezone re-displays existing events in the new zone rather than rescheduling them — so an event stays at the same moment in real time, it just reads differently.
